Bhavathrathan is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Future Urban Mobility research group of the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology. Currently, he is involved in the development of urban freight traffic models for SimMobility. He holds a Ph.D. in Transportation Systems from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. His thesis – under the guidance of Dr. Gopal R. Patil – identifies the existence and uniqueness of formally-definable critical states on disruption-prone urban road networks. His research interests are on urban mobility systems, and has worked specifically on early warnings of service deterioration on urban road networks, modelling of multi-class vehicle streams, and urban freight mobility.
