Takanori Sakai is a Research Associate at Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology, Future Mobility Group (SMART/FM). He works on urban freight data collection in Singapore and the model development for the freight component of SimMobility, a next-generation urban simulation platform. His research focuses on urban freight modelling and simulation, logistics land use, and freight survey. Takanori won  Best Paper Awards in TRB Urban Freight Transportation Committee in 2017 and 2018. Takanori completed the PhD program in the Department of Urban Planning and Policy at University of Illinois at Chicago. He also worked as a transportation planner for international transportation projects, mainly in Southeast Asia, for more than four years.
